WYPS were commissioned in November 2017 to complete the renovation and extension of a commercial storage unit to create a functioning nursery/pre-school for Warley road primary school in Halifax.
After acquiring a disused commercial premise adjacent to the primary school there was the need to create a functioning nursery within the local community. The existing building was to be renovated and extended to make the internal space appropriate to accommodate up to eighty children.
The full scope of development included, the extension of the existing stone-built building to increase the floor area of the premises by 50%. The complete renovation of the internals required the building to be stripped back to brickwork and developed to completed decoration, including the installation of toilets, kitchens, disabled facilities including lifts and additional access as well as electrical lighting, power and safety alarm systems. The building was finished to a high specification to provide an area conducive to the safety of the children and the functionality required by the school in order to best support children and staff alike.
